Choosing to have plastic surgery abroad can be a cheaper option, but in many cases, it can also be more dangerous and more likely to cause severe complications, including death.
Plastic Surgery Abroad Leads to Young Woman’s Death
Janelle Edwards, a 25-year-old mother of two, died recently as the result of complications from several plastic surgeries she received in the Dominican Republic. As stated by her sister Samantha, Edwards received a breast enhancement, a tummy tuck, and butt implants while in Santo Domingo several days before her sudden death.
Edwards was said to have been in considerable pain after returning from the Dominican Republic. However, she seemed to have been feeling well on the day of her death, which culminated in her being found unconscious behind the wheel of her car at her parents’ house. She was rushed to the hospital where she died 30 minutes later. The doctor at the hospital concluded that Edwards died of a blood clot that formed in the wake of her surgeries.
The Dangers of Seeking Plastic Surgery in Other Countries
Going to another country for plastic surgery, especially places like the Dominican Republic, is becoming more common. Procedures outside the Unites States can be a much cheaper option for those who want multiple procedures and feel they can’t afford them here.
However, the danger of doing so dictates that patients must be more vigilant in order to ensure the facility will provide them with top-notch care. Even when this research is conducted, it is still difficult to know for certain if getting plastic surgery in another country will be safe.
