When making a final decision about rhinoplasty surgery, it’s important to be well informed about all of the fees involved. That way, you’ll be able to better prepare financially. The following are the fees that are usually involved in the total cost of nose job surgery.

Surgeon Fees

Surgeons charge fees for their time. To perform a rhinoplasty, they factor in their experience as well as the estimated time it will take to make your nose look the way you would like it to. The surgeon should be able to give you exact surgeon fees at the time of your consultation.

Hospital or Outpatient Surgical Facility

The surgeon does not pay to perform the procedure at a hospital or medical facility; the patient pays for it. The surgeon is only able to perform the procedure where he is authorized, which means that he or she will be the one to give you the amount you’ll have to pay for using the facility where surgery will be performed.

Anesthesia

People seeking a nose job usually need general anesthesia because the surgery is invasive. You will have to pay for the anesthesiologist’s time as well as for the drugs they use to put you to sleep and to numb you.

Garments

After the procedure, the surgeon will give you a splint to hold your nose in place in its new position. This will reduce swelling and the risk of undoing the work done to your nose. Your surgical fees will include this splint as well as any dressings you’ll need to change out at the frequency your plastic surgeon recommends.

Pain Medication

After rhinoplasty surgery, you will have discomfort and will need pain medication. Prescription pain pills are prescribed for this reason, and you may be responsible for paying for them if your insurance plan doesn’t cover medications after surgery (most do). You will also likely have to take antibiotics for a time in order to reduce the risk of post-surgical infection.

Other Fees

Sometimes, there are other fees charged to patients based on that surgeon’s individual preferences. To find out the fully itemized list of charges for rhinoplasty, ask your plastic surgeon to explain them to you.
