Healthy foods for before plastic surgery

Although many of us have lost steam since we made our New Year’s Resolutions, it’s never too late to get back on track. In fact, spring is the perfect time to make that a reality.

Warmer weather can give you that extra motivation you need to get active and reach your goal weight by summer.

Here are the top four tips to help you achieve ultimate health and fitness.

As tempting as it might be to reach for process “100 calorie” snacks to help you in between meals, resist the temptation. Sugar can derail your weight loss efforts by spiking your blood sugar.

Suddenly raising your blood sugar causes your insulin levels to rise and fall. When insulin pours into your blood stream to combat the effects of sugar, it can lead to insulin resistance, belly fat, and weight gain.

The solution, according to Dr. Natasha Turner (author of “The Supercharged Hormone Diet”), is to reduce sugar intake and increase protein. This allows your blood sugar levels to remain stabilized.

According to Dr. Turner, protein stimulates fat burning and appetite control hormones, thus allowing the body to shed unwanted fat. She advises getting between 15 and 20 grams of protein at each meal.

All diets should also consist of whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat, quinoa), fresh fruits (low glycemic), and lots of vegetables. For a natural source of fat choose nuts, seeds, avocado, and healthy oils such as coconut oil.

Drink Water

When you lose weight, toxins and hormones are released from fat tissue. This is why it’s especially important during any period of weight loss to flush the toxins out of your body. Be sure to eat high fiber foods to help absorb excess hormones in the intestines so they are not reabsorbed back into the blood stream.

Water can also help you lose weight by flushing fat and water retention out of the body through the kidneys and bladder. Water is necessary to keep digestion moving and to avoid constipation.

Get Enough Sleep

You need between 7 and 8 hours of sleep a night. When you come up short on sleep, it seriously affects your hormones, especially the hormones that control appetite and fat storage (leptin & cortisol). Sleep isn’t just for beauty!

Regular Exercise

It may seem like a no brainer to get out there and move your body, but with busy schedules and responsibilities, exercise sometimes takes a backseat. For your heart, lungs, and blood vessels, exercise is a must!

For weight loss, focus on cardio four to five times a week and include weight-bearing exercises to tone and build muscles. While doing cardio, be sure to keep your heart rate in the “fat burning zone”. Interval training is especially effective at triggering fat-burning hormones!

Having Trouble With Stubborn Areas of Fat?

Laser liposuction is ideal for active people that have areas such as the thighs, abdomen, and hips that are not responding to diet and exercise. The gentle laser focuses on the fat, destroying it completely and allowing the surgeon to remove it via a small tube.

Visit our laser liposuction centers in NYC and Long Island for a free consultation to see if you are an ideal candidate. Our highly-qualified plastic and cosmetic surgeons have safely performed surgery on hundreds of happy patients.
