What do you get when you combine an obsession with perfection, illegal fillers, and the desire to look exactly like Superman? The latest episode of Botched on E! TV.
That’s right, in their latest episode, Superman fan Herbert Chavez came in to see Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif to see about getting his chest and abdomen to look more like the Man of Steel.
Illegal Fillers in the Chest & Abdomen
Filler materials in the United States go through a rigorous process of approvals by the Federal Drug Administration, or FDA, before they are deemed safe for use on patients.
In Chavez’ case, he had illegal filler materials (not approved by the FDA) injected into his chest and abdomen in hopes of giving him a more sculpted look.
The results can only be described as highly disturbing. Not only does he now have a lumpy chest, full of bumps…it was discovered that the material used to inject his body is actually considered a “poison”, as the doctors put it.
This treatment, also known as Lipodissolve or mesotherapy, is not approved for cosmetic use by the FDA. In the episode that featured Chavez, he revealed that the substance that was used in his injections is a substance called glutathione.
Glutathione is a naturally occurring substance from the liver, which is also found in some foods. It is used medically to treat the side effects of chemotherapy and a host of other ailments. Its use as a cosmetic fat burner has not been established as either effective or safe.
