The most advanced cosmetic procedure available today is called fat transfer surgery, or the ability to transfer fat from one part of the body to another. This innovative technique allows for fat to be removed from one or more parts of the body and added to areas where more fat is desired such as the buttocks, breasts, or face.
The percentage of fat that remains in a transplanted area is around 25-30% on average. If the patient has not followed the surgeon’s instructions or is in poor health (or lacking in nutrition), these issues can cause complications after surgery including poor healing, inability of the fat to establish itself, and the development of infections in the treated areas.
Here are a few secrets to having a successful fat transfer surgery.
Natural Breast Augmentation
According to statistics provided by the National Institutes of Health, the breasts are composed of between 36% to 56% fat, depending upon the individual. This is mostly due to genetic factors which determine the size of the breasts as well as the patient’s estrogen levels.
For women who do not want to receive silicone or saline implants to enlarge their breasts, there is now a natural way to get the look they desire. A breast fat transfer can reshape and re-contour the look of breasts naturally, using fat cells gathered from different areas of the patient’s own body.
Once the procedure is completed, the result is larger breasts that are made completely from the patient’s own fatty tissue. There is no worry about foreign materials placed inside of the body or an implant rupturing or leaking in the future.
Brazilian Butt Lift (Buttocks Fat Transfer)
The buttocks fat transfer offers the best of both worlds: fat reduction in problem areas and transfer of the removed fat to accentuate the buttocks. The buttocks can be custom-sculpted by the surgeon so that the outer flanks and central regions can get “lifted” and plumped up in all the right places.
This procedure does not carry the complications that butt implants do. There is very little down time versus weeks of no sitting after butt implants. There are no foreign materials in the body to potentially cause rejection as can happen with implants. There is no general anesthesia required as is required for implants.
Steps to a Successful Fat Transfer Surgery
Prior to surgery be sure that you:
- Do not smoke at least 2 weeks prior to surgery
- Use an anti-bacterial liquid soap in the shower for a month prior to surgery
- Exercise at least 4-5 times per week for one month prior to surgery for optimal blood flow to the skin
- Eat 7-9 servings per day of fresh fruit and vegetables; avoid caffeine, sugar, and processed foods.
- Do not take mega doses of vitamin E (or any vitamin for that matter) because taking more can cause serious blood clotting issues.
- Avoid ibuprofen, Aleve, or aspirin 10-14 days prior to surgery as they can interfere with your blood’s ability to clot.
