They say the eyes are the windows to the soul.  When loose skin or fatty deposits are present on the eyelids or under the eyes, it may cause one to feel uncomfortable and un-confident in his or her appearance.  In our eye lift New York locations, we can correct eyelid issues and restore full confidence in a short amount of time.

Blepharoplasty, or eye lift surgery, can:

  • Remove excess fatty deposits, which create a puffy appearance.
  • Eliminate loose or sagging skin that hides the eyes' natural contours.
  • Relieves vision impairment due to loose and sagging skin on the upper eye lid.
  • Remove excess skin and eliminate fine wrinkles from under the eye.
  • Correct under eye bags.
  • Restore proper contour by correcting droopiness in the lower eyelid that reveals the white of the eye.

How Surgery is Done at Our Eye Lift New York Centers

When a patient visits us, we discuss the areas of concern as well as options for treatment before scheduling his or her procedure.  The surgical procedure is custom tailored to the patient's needs and desires.

We begin treatment in our eyelid surgery center by administering the most suitable sedation as discussed in pre-surgery visits.  Incisions are then made in the areas that will be most easily concealed in the natural contours of the eyelid.

To address upper eyelid concerns such as sagging skin, an incision is usually made in the natural crease of the eye.  This allows the doctor to reposition fatty deposits, remove excess skin and tighten delicate muscles and tissue.

When the lower eyelid is treated, the incision is typically placed just below the lower lash line, allowing for the removal of excess skin and fat deposits.  However, there is also the option for a transconjunctival incision, which is made inside the lower eyelid where it will never be seen.

After Blepharoplasty Surgery

After completion of the procedure by our eye lift New York team, incisions are closed either with absorbable sutures or skin adhesive and ointment is applied to the eyelid area.  The patient is taken to a recovery room where he or she may experience blurry vision due to the ointment applied to eyes.

This is only temporary.  Depending on the type of anesthesia used during surgery, the patient may also experience chills or nausea, and may feel emotional.  These are all very normal recovery symptoms and are only temporary.

Knowing what to expect with treatment helps the patient experience a less stressful surgical procedure.  Typically, when a cosmetic procedure is scheduled, the patient has only final results in mind.  These results will be visible and lasting, but may take a week or two to be fully visible as swelling and bruising may occur in the days that follow treatment.

In fact, swelling may get worse before it gets better.  During this time of healing, it is important that the patient take antibiotics as prescribed and follows post-operative instructions. This page does not communicate the full list of complete risks and potential complications from this surgery. To receive a list of post-op risks & complications, please contact our office.
