Enlarged male breasts, also known as gynecomastia, can be caused by medication, weight gain, a medical condition, or a hormonal imbalance. Once you have the condition, you are likely to be anxious to get rid of it.
While having gynecomastia surgery is an effective option, it’s best to start with a medical exam and a healthier lifestyle.
Seek Medical Advice First
Make an appointment with your physician, so he can run the necessary tests to determine if your condition is due to an underlying medical issue.
If the tests come back clear, you may want to start by eating a calorie-restricted diet and start an exercise regimen, so you can lose weight. Losing weight can sometimes reduce enlarged breasts in overweight men with the condition.
This is called pseudogynecomastia, or false gynecomastia, because there is no underlying medical reason for the enlarged breasts.
Include These Exercises in Your Workout
If your physician says you are healthy enough to run, start with that. It’s a high-impact exercise and it can burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time. Start to run for just a few minutes and increase the time you run each week. Before you know it, you’ll be running miles and losing weight.
To keep you interested and motivated, try some cardio classes. Most communities have boot camps, spin cycling, and other types of cardio classes. Get involved so you can boost your calorie burn.
Rowing machines can be hard work, but they are great to burn calories and increase muscle mass. Start by rowing for 10 minutes at first. Increase the minutes each week, as you would with with running.
If you have problematic knees or need to do low-impact cardio, swimming is a great low-impact exercise that works out your entire body. If you can swim laps, start with that. If you can’t, get some water weights and walk the pool. The resistance of the water provides a great calorie-burning workout.
Don’t forget strength training while you exercise. This is what will boost your metabolism to help you burn calories when you’re resting. To reduce enlarged male breasts, try doing push-ups, chest presses, chest flies, cable crossovers, and incline rows.
