After you have your baby, you will likely still look pregnant. It takes at least six weeks for your uterus to go back to regular size, and usually, women have some lingering fat in the abdominal and hip area.

The best way to decrease the size of a baby bulge is through healthy eating (no dieting if you’re breastfeeding) and exercise under the guidance of your doctor.

Just know that some women have a difficult time getting rid of the fat around their abdominal area. This is normal. It’s also common to have a hard time toning the area. This is why many women elect to have liposuction and a tummy tuck after having a baby. The liposuction removes excess fat from specific areas and the tummy tuck tightens the muscles and removes excess skin.

#2: Breast Size Increases

Yes, your breasts can grow even more after giving birth, especially if you breastfeed. However, after breastfeeding, many women find their breasts look deflated. The reason for this is the skin stretched so much when the milk filled the breasts that when the milk dried up, the skin didn’t bounce back. Yet other moms may find their breasts are even larger once the milk is gone.

For some women, the skin never returns to pre-pregnancy tightness and the breasts never have the fullness they once did. Many women decide to have breast implants along with a breast lift to get their bust looking as it did before childbirth and breastfeeding.

#3: Shoe Size Increases

Not all women end up with bigger feet than they started with before pregnancy, but many do. The culprit is Relaxin – a hormone that relaxes the muscles. While women only really need the muscles in the pelvic area to relax, the hormone affects other muscles, including the feet.

#4: Double Chin May Appear

Along with the weight gain of pregnancy, a double chin appears for some women. After having the baby, the double chin may not go away. The same thing happens as it does with the breasts. The excess fat from pregnancy stretches the skin under the chin. After the fat loss due to diet and exercise, the skin may not shrink. Luckily, with laser liposuction, this can be resolved.
