Our Botox Manhattan and Botox New York centers perform many Botox and dermal filler procedures each week. They are designed to offer our patients with a non-invasive, non-surgical method of improving the appearance of facial wrinkles, lines and creases due to aging and sun damage.
We often use Botox and dermal fillers together for best results in order to achieve a more youthful look for our patients. Some patients can also benefit from laser skin resurfacing as well as dermabrasion or a chemical peel to improve the surface of the skin.
Our Botox Manhattan and Long Island cosmetic surgeons can help you decide which combination of non-surgical treatments is right for you. Since every patient has different concerns about their facial features and how aging has affected their skin (as well as the underlying muscles), it is imperative that ALL cosmetic surgery patients come in to see a Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon such as one of our surgeons at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery of New York.
If you have read the news lately, you probably have noticed some very scary stories about people who have, for the sake of saving money, had “Botox” treatments from an unqualified person and ended up with terrible and sometimes lethal consequences. Don’t ever take chances with your health; see one of our Botox Manhattan or Botox New York specialists instead!
How Long Does Botox Treatment Last?
Botox is designed to be re-injected about every 3 to 6 months. It needs to be repeated because the body gradually removes the neuro-toxin from the muscle tissues over time. This results in a return to complete movement in the treated muscles.
Once you begin treatment by one of our Botox Manhattan or Botox New York anti-aging specialists, our office will automatically remind you when it is time or your next treatment. The cosmetic effects of Botox will begin to be seen right away as wrinkles on the face no longer appear when the patient smiles or frowns.
During the treatment, our cosmetic surgeon will ask you to frown, furrow your eyebrows and smile to see which specific muscle groups will need to be targeted in order to give you a smooth face that does not show wrinkles in the places that bother you.
What Areas of the Face Can Be Treated with Botox?
Patients will notice that directly after the injections, the treated areas may be tender and slightly red. These are normal reactions that the body has to both the Botox chemical as well as from the needle. More serious side effects are extremely rare but can include allergic reactions, skin rashes, dizziness or trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects; our Botox Manhattan surgeon will provide you with that information prior to your treatment.
Cost of Treatment in Our Botox Manhattan and Botox New York Centers
Botox costs are based upon a per unit fee. Depending upon the size of the area to be treated, a half dozen or more units may be used per area. When multiple facial areas are treated, the price increases appropriately. Though the prices can go up or down based upon supply/demand as well as competition between local Botox New York and Botox Manhattan providers, patients can expect to pay between $10 and $15 per unit used.
We offer competitive prices as well as seasonal specials running throughout the year so that our Botox New York patients receive the best treatments at the most affordable prices. We are glad to work with patients to reach an affordable treatment cost, especially when patients commit to a long term treatment plan for 12 months or longer.
No matter your aesthetic goals for a more youthful appearance, our skilled plastic and cosmetic surgeons can give you a treatment plan that will address each of your facial concerns. We are known for sitting with patients for as long as needed to answer questions, plan treatments that will be most effective and work within your budget.

Dermal Fillers
This category of non-invasive, non-surgical cosmetic procedures are designed to eliminate deep folds and wrinkles, fill in shallow areas of the face, plump up lips, and lessen facial creases such as laugh lines around the mouth (the naso-labial folds). They can also be a wonderful way to fill in scars on the face that have a sunken appearance to raise the skin up to a normal position.
Often times, our patients combine their treatment with Botox, laser resurfacing or chemical peels for the best results without the need for surgery. Dermal fillers can be made of different components, each having their benefits and degrees of effectiveness.
Let’s take a look at the various types of dermal fillers that can be used to enhance the appearance of youthfulness and lessen the signs of aging. Again, please be aware that many New York MedSpa centers and the like are jumping on the “fountain of youth” bandwagon and are treating patients with under-qualified providers. We recommend ONLY receiving treatment from Board Certified New York Cosmetic Surgeons such as specialists at the Botox New York and Botox Manhattan offices of Advanced Cosmetic Surgery of New York.
Hyaluronic Acid – This substance is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that helps to cushion our joints and is also found in our eyes. For cosmetic purposes, it can be directly injected into the lips to boost volume and give the lips a fuller appearance. When manufactured for cosmetic use, hyaluronic acid is made either from laboratory bacteria or is extracted from the combs of roosters (source: WebMD.com). Some of the common names for hyaluronic products used for cosmetic purposes includes: Elevess™, Hydrelle™, Hylaform™, Juvederm™, Perlan™e, Prevelle™, and Restylane™ (source: American Society of Plastic Surgeons).
Polylactic Acid (Sculptra) – Sculptra Aesthetic™ is the only FDA approved brand for polylactic acid for non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures. It works in a very unique way in that it prompts your body to produce collagen in the areas where it is injected. This is called a “stimulator” dermal filler product. One of the great advantages to Sculptra Aesthetic is that is can be considered a semi-permanent solution to filling in laugh lines, wrinkles, naso-labial folds and to plump up the lips.
Unlike synthetic dermal fillers that are absorbed by the body over time the collagen that the body produces in the Sculptra Aesthetic-treated areas generally remain intact. There may be a need for minor touch-ups from time to time for some of our NY patients. Polylactic acid has been used in sutures for over 40 years and is an extremely safe substance with an excellent safety record.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite (Radiesse™) – Out of all of the semi-permanent dermal fillers used in non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures, this substance is the heaviest due to its high mineral-like content (calcium). Calcium hydroxylapatite, better known as Radiesse, is naturally found in our bones and it very useful in correcting the deepest of wrinkles in the face.
It is also used to fill in certain facial features that need plumping such as the cheeks and lips as well as erasing naso-labial folds, vertical lines between the nose and horizontal creases on the forehead. Calcium hydroxylapatite has been used in reconstructive cosmetic surgery as well as by dentists for several decades and is extremely safe.
PMMA “polymethyl-methacrylate” (Artefill™) – This semi-permanent dermal filler is best used for our New York patients with moderate to severe deep wrinkles, crease, folds, especially the naso-labial folds. It can also be injected into lips and scars to plump up thin lips and correct pitted scars on the face. Artefill is a mixture of the PMMA micro-spheres that have been suspended in a gel that is comprised of about 80% collagen. It works by filling in the treatment areas with collagen upfront and as the body absorbs the collagen in Artefill, the body begins to make its own natural collagen to replace it.
Qualified New York Cosmetic Surgeons and properly trained service providers will usually use PMMA when a patient is looking for a more permanent solution to resolving deep wrinkles or creases. It is injected into the subcutaneous skin through very specialized techniques (usually under-filled by the plastic surgeon) to allow for up to three treatments to achieve the most natural and long-lasting effects. PMMA has been a part of NY cosmetic surgery procedures in permanent implants for many years and is an extremely trusted and safe substance.
Collagen (Evolence™, Zyplast™, Zyderm™, Cosmoderm™, Cosmoplast™, and Cymetra™) – These types of dermal fillers are made of natural collagen and can be from either animal (porcine/bovine) sources or human-based sources. Collagen is the most natural dermal filler beside your own fat to use for reversing the signs of aging such as wrinkles, creases and folds. Collagen is soft, supple, and bio-friendly which reduces the risk of rejection.
Fat Transfer and Fat Grafting – Using the body’s own fat as a wrinkle and dermal filler is the purest and most natural way to fill the skin on any area of the face or hands where the signs of aging are becoming more obvious. Some of the specific parts of the face that are usually treated with a patient’s own fat cells include thinning lips, sunken cheeks, forehead creases, naso-labial folds and frown lines.
We offer our New York cosmetic surgery patients the ability to harvest fat from areas of the body where they would like to have fat removed and to have it immediately injected as well as to store the rest for future use in their own stem cell cosmetic surgery procedures.
