“Brotox” – it’s the male term for BOTOX®. Men get their own name for it because they are owning it! The rate of men seeking cosmetic improvements is much higher than it was just a few years ago. That rugged Marlboro man look is just not doing it for men today.

Men have the same desire as women to look their very best at every age -- as much as some don’t want to admit it. They look in the mirror every morning, they see that they are aging, and they don’t like it.

People judge others based on looks and age. When one’s appearance gives away his or her age, they may end up with a stereotype they most likely don’t fit. This could lead to lost opportunities, which is completely unfair. Ageism is rampant in our youth-worshipping society.

Instead of ignoring the obvious, men are doing something about it; they are seeking “Brotox”.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more than 400,000 U.S. men received BOTOX injections in 2014. This is a 337 percent increase in just ten years. Amazing!

Even though more men are embracing this injectable fountain of youth, there’s still some shame associated with it. Many men won’t admit they’ve had the injections. They simply chock up their youthfulness to eating better and exercising more. While that does help, reducing fine lines and wrinkles has more to do with the BOTOX they got every few months.

Why is there still a stigma with getting older? For decades, men were regarded as distinguished as they started to age. It was all part of “being a man.” Whenever a man tried to keep himself from looking his age with a cosmetic treatment such as BOTOX, he was regarded as a “pretty boy” or “sissy.” This stigma weakly stands today – not as much, but it’s still around.

At Advanced Cosmetic Surgery of New York, we want to let all of the men out there know – you don’t have to be ashamed. BOTOX is for women AND men. It doesn’t make you any less of a man, and in actuality, it can make you feel like more of a man.

Cosmetic treatments boost self-confidence. More confidence can lead to a more satisfying sex life and better business opportunities. It can make men enjoy their life and take advantage of everything it has to offer.
