It's not only women that worry about their looks. Today, it is common for men to also have a concern when they look in the mirror. Most men appear very confident at first glance, however, they have insecurities just like women do.
What areas bother them enough to contemplate having plastic surgery?
A Six-Pack Anyone?
With so much focus on a rock-hard stomach, also known as a "six-pack", this may be one of the most problematic areas for men. Fox News Health reported that according to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), procedures on men make up about 9 to 10 percent of the total procedures.
They quote Dr. Clyde Ishii, a plastic surgeon based in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the President-Elect of the ASAPS, as saying, "…liposuction (the removal of fat from the body) is one of the most common surgical procedures for men, and has been for a number of years".
He also states that, "…in 2016, surgeons performed over 45,000 liposuction procedures on men". Fat is one of the main reasons for a beer belly, so liposuction can reduce tummy fat, therefore reducing the size of the stomach. Of course regular exercise and a healthy diet after the procedure can help keep excess fat at bay while also firming up abdominal muscles.
In the same article, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) also reported, "eyelid surgery, popular among women as well, was performed on over 28,000 men in 2016. Eyelid surgery is cosmetic and functional: surgeons can lift lids that are interfering with vision". Upper eyelids that droop can limit one’s vision, so tightening them allows the eyelids to open up fully. Revealing the eyes with an eyelift can also make the face look much more youthful.
Another popular procedure, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, is a neck lift. If a man feels like he has a turkey neck, which can make him look older, he may want to tighten this area along with the jaw line. A neck lift can help a man to feel more confident in his appearance. For less severe cases, laser liposuction in this area is an excellent way to achieve both fat loss and skin tightening!
