A non-surgical cosmetic procedure is one that does not require incisions to be made in the skin. Many of our male patients choose to start with these types of procedures when they are looking to get back that youthful “edge” without going all out with a facelift, eyelift or brow lift. Laser Skin Resurfacing

For our male plastic surgery patients, laser skin resurfacing accomplishes what chemical peels cannot; the laser beam of light deeply penetrates into the sub-dermal layer where the collagen is produced. It serves to renew the top layer of skin; eliminating spots, scars, sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles by completely removing the top layer of old, outer skin. But it also goes much deeper than that. Once the old layer of skin has been removed (along with all of its former imperfections), the laser stimulates the collagen layer to produce new collagen for the new outer skin layer!

Lasers that are used today in these types of procedures include the carbon dioxide lasers (removes thin layers of skin, usually on the face alone) and well as the erbium lasers (removes both superficial and deeper lines and wrinkles on the face, neck and chest).

This procedure is done using local anesthesia and lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours, depending upon the size of the area as well as how many areas are treated. You will wear eye protection during the procedure to protect your eyes form the laser beam. Special dressings will be used post-procedure and oral painkillers will be prescribed to manage discomfort. Recovery from start to finish (from old skin removal to new skin growth completion) takes about 4 weeks. However, most of our laser skin resurfacing patients return to work within a week or so, after the old skin has completed the shedding phase.

The material plumps up the depressed areas where these creases, folds, and wrinkles appear. The result is a smooth area where a wrinkle once made an appearance.

Some of these dermal fillers and soft tissue fillers are temporary (needing to be re-injected every 3 months or so) while some others are semi-permanent.
