The Male Breast Reduction Procedure
Male breast reduction is performed on an outpatient basis in one of our AAAHC accredited surgical suites. We use a unique cocktail of oral painkillers and a mild sedative to help patients relax and stay comfortable throughout the procedure. Local anesthetic is injected into the treatment areas to numb them completely for a pain-free procedure.
For excessive fatty tissue in the breasts, tumescent laser liposuction will be performed with the assistance of Smartlipo laser liposuction. The tumescent fluid includes diluted lidocaine which is like a dentists Novocain.
The laser produces a gentle heat while precisely targeting the fat to melt and liquefy it. This completely destroys the fat cells so they can be easily removed with a suction cannula. Unlike most surgeons, we use a powered, motorized suction which is far more gentle, thorough, aesthetic and non bruising. Most importantly, we use the laser for gynecomastia surgery while most other surgeons do NOT and the laser achieves the breast/chest tightening, lifting and flattening that patients desire.
Extra glandular tissue under the nipples requires our team to remove the gland: scarring is avoided by performing a subcuticular closure which spares the skin. Unlike many surgeons, we remove all of the excess gland instead of only a small portion or no glandular removal. This achieves the result our patients truly want.
Normal Breast VS. Gynecomastia
What Causes Gynecomastia?
Watch the video below for more information about what gynecomastia is, what causes it and the treatment for it.
Recovering From Gynecomastia Surgery
Recovery varies by patient. A compression garment is required for 24 hours a day during the first week following surgery, then for 12 hours a day during the next week.
It is imperative that you come in for your scheduled follow-up appointments for proper healing and best results. We offer appointments at our NYC and Long Island offices six days a week, for your convenience.
