A recent article in the Daily Mail follows one woman’s desire for an unconventional—yet very realistic—cosmetic procedure: knee liposuction. Demi Moore is just one of the celebrities to allegedly undergo fat reduction of the knees.
So who would undergo such a procedure? Men and women alike can suffer from loose skin and wrinkling following excessive weight gain or subsequent loss.
This can leave knees looking aged when compared to the rest of the body. By treating the area with laser-assisted liposuction (LAL), extra fat can be removed while tightening the surrounding skin.
SmartLipo ™ is just one form of LAL that can be used for knee rejuvenation. SmartLipo vanquishes fat while simultaneously tightening skin and improving its texture and tone. A tiny cannula is used during the procedure, which results in little to no scarring and less downtime. With the assistance of the laser, fat is melted and removed as liquid. This allows for less bruising than traditional liposuction.
Following knee liposuction, patients may require a couple days of down time. The patient may need to wear a compression garment for up to two weeks following the procedure.
Patients will experience little-to-no pain during the procedure, and after anesthesia wears off the pain will be similar to the tenderness felt following a rigorous workout.
If you are a Long Island or New York City resident considering knee liposuction, our friendly staff at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery of NY would be happy to address any of your concerns.
