In April, teens began using the hashtag #KylieJennerChallenge to document their DIY lip plumping using a shotglass and some serious suction.
The results were horrifying as people presented their distended lips, marked with broken blood vessels, some with blisters, and other reporting a loss of sensation.
Several teens reportedly went to the ER for medical care due to their antics. All to get lips that look fuller and more like Kylie Jenner’s!
Kylie’s Side of the Story in April
When the story broke that teens were doing this to their lips in an attempt to look like her, Kylie stormed social media discouraging girls from doing it and to “…be YOURSELF & not be afraid to experiment w your look.”
When the press questioned her about her lips and whether they have been augmented, Kylie adamantly denied ever having “plastic surgery” or “going under the knife”. She further clarified that her lips were “au naturel”.
Kylie’s Side of the Story in May
The celeb gossip circuit has just started reporting that in an upcoming episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”, Kylie will be admitting to having temporary lip fillers injected into her lips to make them look fuller.
Kylie doesn’t feel that she lied about her lips because lip fillers and lip augmentation using injectable fillers is not technically “plastic surgery” using a knife. Potato, pot-ah-to.
Why All the Controversy About Kylie Jenner’s Lips?
There’s nothing wrong with getting that nip, tuck, or plumping you’ve been thinking about, but keep in mind that Kylie is a minor. At just 17 years old, it is against the law to administer these fillers unless either of the following conditions is met:
- The minor has parental permission.
- The minor is legally emancipated from their parents.
In an article featured in the Washington Post on May 6, 2015, they reminded readers that filler injections last more than a year, eluding to the fact that she likely had injections at younger than age 17.
Kylie now wants the world to know that she’s admitting to her lip enhancement and that the instant judgments that people make about her is what caused her to “tiptoe around the truth” in the first place.
