At Advanced Cosmetic Surgery of New York, we would like to take a few minutes to pay homage to a beautiful woman. She was a woman who delighted us all with her outgoing personality and beauty. She knew what she wanted and never let anyone or anything stop her.
Joan Rivers was a stand-up comedian who was no stranger to television. She was born in 1933 to Russian immigrants. She was married for 22 years and had one daughter by the name of Melissa. It was Melissa that was with her in the final minutes of her life.
Joan Rivers led the life she wanted to because she wanted to be happy. When she wanted to entertain, she entertained on stage and in front of the cameras. When she wanted to look better, she did what she felt she needed; she got cosmetic surgery.
Anderson Cooper said that she once quoted herself as having had 739 cosmetic procedures. This was in 2012, so it’s likely she’s had other procedures since then. Joan Rivers’ once said, “I want to look nice. No one wants to look ugly.”
Her motto was, “Better a new face coming out of an old car than an old face coming out of a new car. Spend your money on you.”
Joan Rivers was a fabulous woman with a lot of strength. Her husband committed suicide in 1987. She was having liposuction when it happened. She dealt with that tragedy with the same humor she used for many of the situations in her life.
She once said, “My husband killed himself. And it was my fault. We were making love and I took the bag off my head.”
We lost a woman many of us will never forget. She didn’t die because of another cosmetic procedure, but instead, a routine throat procedure that led to cardiac arrest.
Let’s all take a moment to remember Joan Rivers for everything she did for comedy on and off the air and that she showed women everywhere that plastic surgery is meant to make people feel better about themselves so they can live a more confident life.
