After a plastic surgery procedure, many patients want to get back to their lives as quickly as possible so that they can enjoy their new bodies. How quickly you recover from your cosmetic surgery procedure depends on a lot of factors, including your general overall health, the extent of the procedure and types of incisions that were done.

Here are a couple of things that you can do to speed up your healing time and get back to your life.

How-to-Heal-Faster-after-Plastic-SurgeryFollow the Surgeon’s Instructions

Your doctor will give you a list of healing instructions to follow right after your surgery, including what types of physical activities you should avoid and what medications you will be required to take. It is important to follow these instructions as best as you can. As the old saying rings true, “Your doctor knows best.”

Rest

Resting is very important because it gives your body ample time to recuperate and heal. Do not participate in strenuous movements or exercise and avoid lifting heavy objects, even if your surgery is not related to any muscles you are using. These types of movements can cause blood to move towards a specific area and cause swelling.

Relax

During the weeks following your surgery, it is important to relax. Stress can play a big part in the healing process, so be sure to stay away from stressful situations, both in your home life and out. Listen to soft music, chill out watching your favorite movie and just allow yourself some peace and tranquility.

No Alcohol

It is important to avoid drinking alcoholic beverages while you are recovering from your surgery. Not only do beer and spirits slow the healing process, but they can mix badly with the antibiotics and pain medications you are taking. Also, avoid smoking, which causes toxins to accumulate in your blood and restricts blood flow to the skin.
