As we age, certain tell-tale signs begin to emerge in both men and women. As our face lift New York City surgeon, Dr. Theodore Diktaban, explains, "Often times, the first place to show these signs are on our faces. Even for those of us in New York who stay out of the sun, eat well, and have an active lifestyle, there comes a time when every person will begin to see the signs of aging."
He goes on to say, "Some of our facelift Long Island patients grew up without thinking twice about using sunscreen and now have moderate to severe sun damage on our skin." Still others may share in a “gene pool” passed down from our family that results in certain areas of the face appearing more aged than other areas.
These effects of aging can come from fatty deposits in unwanted places (such as under eye bags), muscles that have become loose (such as on the neck), and skin that has started sagging which produces wrinkles. No matter the specific areas that are bothering you, surgery in our face lift New York City and facelift Long Island surgery centers is usually the best option to offer facial rejuvenation and a more youthful appearance.
Our facelifts are often times combined with other aesthetic procedures for optimal results such as an upper or lower eye lift, fat transfer, cheek or chin implants, laser skin resurfacing, wrinkle fillers, Botox or laser liposuction of the underside of the chin and neck. For some patients, surgery in our facelift Long Island or facelift New York City (Manhattan) surgery centers means that only local anesthesia needs to be used.
One of the biggest advantages to being the right age for a facelift is today’s medical technology. The advancements that have been made in the last few years make scars virtually invisible while giving our face lift patients the most natural-looking results than could be achieved before.
How Surgery is Performed in Our Face LIft New York City and Facelift Long Island Centers
A facelift is performed under general anesthesia in either our AAAHC accredited facelift New York City (Manhattan) or Facelift Long Island locations. The patient is fully sedated and unconscious during the procedure. If any laser liposuction is to be done, it will be performed during this phase of the procedure, prior to any skin resection or muscle tightening.
If a patient is going to have Botox, it is usually done prior to the patient going under general anesthesia so the cosmetic surgeon can see which muscles need to be targeted. Other procedures scheduled for the facial area, such as an eye lift, may be done at this time as well. The laser skin resurfacing is always scheduled for the very last procedure if it is to be done on the same day as the facelift.
The upper facelift, also called a brow lift, involves separating the muscles and skin from the forehead plate, disabling the key muscles that cause tell-tale signs of aging, and trimming the extra skin after the skin is removed and closing up the incision so that the forehead has a smooth appearance with no sagging skin. This dramatically reduces the appearance of wrinkles and creases in the forehead as well as from between the eyes where the “elevens” show (those vertical lines on the forehead between the eyes). This is one of our most popular procedures because of the dramatic difference that our face lift New York City and facelift Long Island surgeons can make!
Mid-Face Lift
A lower facelift helps to eliminate sagging of the chin and neck as well addressing the separation of the vertical muscles that run up the front of the neck. The muscles are tightened to their original position, liposuction is done if needed under the chin, and the extra skin is removed and tightened through an incision that is discreetly placed underneath the chin.
Many of our face lift procedures are performed in one of our two AAAHC Accredited face lift New York or facelift Long Island Surgery Centers in Manhattan and Commack. This makes it easy for us to help patients get home as quickly as possible and start the recovery process.
