Blepharoplasty New York – Blepharoplasty NYC Surgery

Blepharoplasty New York, blepharoplasty NYCA blepharoplasty, or eye lift, is a procedure we perform in our blepharoplasty New York centers to help lift sagging eyelid skin, tighten eye muscles and remove excess fat from underneath the eyes (under-eye bags). As we age, our skin loses elasticity and the muscles around our eyes begin to weaken, causing unsightly upper eyelid drooping and pronounced bags of fat both above and below the eyes due to under-eye fat protruding.

Sun damage can cause the delicate skin around our eyes to become damaged and thus more prone to losing elasticity over time. Genetics also play a role in the degree of fat accumulation that develops in the eye area as a person ages. Our blepharoplasty NYC cosmetic surgeons have decades of experience in artistry and creating natural-looking results.

Who is a Candidate for Surgery in Our Blepharoplasty New York Centers?

Just about anyone is a good candidate for undergoing this transforming cosmetic surgery eyelift procedure.  An ideal blepharoplasty patient is one who is in good health (no major health issues or eye diseases) and who is currently experiencing a less-than-desirable appearance in the areas around the eyes. We require that all of our blepharoplasty New York patients stop smoking at least two weeks prior to the surgery and do not start smoking again afterward. Cigarettes cause constriction of the blood vessels in the skin, thus delaying healing and complicating patients’ end results.

Consultation Tips from Our Blepharoplasty New York Surgeons

When you arrive for your consultation, it is very helpful to us if you bring in a picture of yourself when your eyes were showing very little signs of aging. This will give us a good idea of how much lift and correction needs to be made to the eyes. One of our expert NY eye lift surgeons will discuss exactly what revisions can be made to your eyes to give you the very best version of you at your current age.

Our blepharoplasty NYC surgeon, Dr. Theodore Diktaban, believes not only in personalized cosmetic surgery procedure plans for each individual patient, but also in giving our eye lift New York patients the most natural results possible. Though we can’t literally turn back the clock to when you were 18, we can take many years off of your appearance and give you a more youthful look.

How Surgery is Done in Our Blepharoplasty NYC Centers

The eye lift procedure is done under general anesthesia which will be administered intravenously. Patients are carefully monitored during the entire procedure by an anesthesiologist, or doctor who specializes in anesthesia for surgical patients. The eye lift procedure can last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes, depending upon the extent of correction being made to the eyelids. The procedures for upper and lower eyelid correction are listed below.

Upper Eye Lift – Depending upon the degree of correction needed, the upper eyelid will have either one or two incisions. The first incision will be right along the crease of your eyelid to lift the skin located just above your eyelashes. Our blepharoplasty New York surgeon will skillfully lift the delicate eye skin into a more youthful position and will then close the incision so that the scar will be hidden in the eyelid crease.

Lower lid (under eye bags) Lift – The area underneath the eye is opened up along the inside lower lash line to expertly hide the incision. Our blepharoplasty NYC surgeon then removes just the right amount of fat from the lower lid and removes any extra skin, if needed.
