We often talk about breast augmentation in regards to making breasts larger, but many women who decide they want to go in the opposite direction with their breast size. In other words, they want them to be smaller.

Some of these women are celebrities. Since society often believes “bigger is better,” especially when it comes to breasts, celebrities are usually questioned about why they opted for a decrease in bust size. The following are some of those celebrities’ responses.

Ariel Winter from Modern Family decreased the size of her breasts from a 32F to 34D. When Glamour magazine asked her what led to her decision, she said:

“As women in the industry, we are totally oversexualized and treated like objects. Every article has to do with me on a red carpet has to do with ‘Ariel’s Winter’s Crazy Cleavage!’ or ‘Ariel Winter Shows Huge Boobs at an Event!’ And that’s all people would recognize me by.”

Women want to be known for their intelligence and personality rather than their physical appearance. It’s unfortunate that a large bust can stand in the way of many people doing that.

Dina Manzo

Dina Manzo from the Real Housewives of New Jersey reduced her breasts from 32DD to 32C. She told Life & Style:

“I was uncomfortable and felt like I was carrying a child around with me all the time. Plus, you don’t realize it until you have big boobs, but they’re a pain when it comes to dressing.”

Janeane Garofalo

Inked magazine asked Janeane Garofalo why decided to reduce her breast size, and she candidly said:

“I did that many years ago because at five-foot-one, I had boobs like Dolly Parton. I’ve never thought big boobs were good. I hated them the second I got them. I did nothing but try to hide them my whole life, and as soon as I was in college I was like, ‘These have to go’…When I did standup, people would heckle me because such a short person with such big boobs is very distracting.”

Mimi Rogers

Mimi Rogers told Weekend magazine:

“Before I had the surgery, men were talking to my chest the entire time, but I couldn’t blame them. When I walked into a room, my breasts were always several steps ahead of me.”

Mimi says her breast reduction helped her social life a great deal.
